About Chennai Stitchery

About Chennai Stitchery

We remodel, alter, and upcycle clothing with careful attention to fabric, fit, and finish. Every project begins with an honest review of what the garment can support.

Garment Care With a Second Life

Chennai Stitchery focuses on tailoring and clothing alterations with a strong emphasis on garment remodelling and upcycling. We help customers refresh well-loved pieces, update fit, and rework clothing into something more wearable.

From redesign consultations to final fitting reviews, our process is clear and practical. We assess each garment first, then recommend what can be achieved with the existing material, construction, and condition.

Why Choose Us

What We Value

Our work is designed for garments that deserve careful attention, whether the goal is a better fit, a fresh shape, or a new use altogether.

01

Clear Assessment

We start by looking closely at the garment, its fabric, and the requested change. This helps us explain what is realistic before any work is approved.

02

Thoughtful Remodelling

We offer redesign consultations, remodelling projects, vintage fit updates, and fabric-reuse accessory work. Each service is shaped around the condition of the original piece.

03

Material Review

When available, we match thread and trim to the original garment, but we only confirm materials after checking supply. That keeps the process accurate and transparent.

04

Structured Process

Our workshop follows a simple flow: inquiry, assessment, consultation, quote, approval, work, review, and collection. It keeps the project easy to follow from start to finish.

Our Story

How We Work

Built for people who want to keep clothing in use longer, our workshop combines alteration skill with thoughtful redesign. The aim is to make each piece more useful without losing what makes it worth keeping.

Chennai Stitchery was founded by Anika Iyer in 2016 with a focus on practical garment work and considered upcycling. The studio grew from the idea that clothing can often be improved, reshaped, or repurposed instead of replaced.

We work with sustainability minded customers, vintage clothing owners, and people bringing in garments with personal meaning. Each project is reviewed for fabric strength, construction details, and the limits of the original item.

Our service includes written alteration scope, original thread and trim matching where available, and a step-by-step process from inquiry to collection. We keep expectations realistic and confirm the work before it begins.
